Goal post: why this site?

Where to start? Right here, just by saying why I wanted to create a blog to talk about communications (good, bad and ugly) in projects…

… because after 15 years working on projects with all kinds of organizations and people, I have heard countless times people saying we need to communicate more and better, yet have seen little evidence of it in the making;

… because the more senior the roles I was taking on technology projects, the more critical I saw communications become: the higher-up the corporate ladder the audience, the sharper (ie. clear, concise, to the point), I needed to be about what I had to say;

… because Project Managers have tons of information to manage but can find it very challenging to condense and convey clear messages on what really matters to their project stakeholders;

… because I am passionate about project management and I truly believe that good communications can make or break a project;

…because I believe that to be effective, project management communications should be:

I am looking forward to sharing knowledge, thoughts and experience on the subject, and hearing from others too: whether you are a seasoned professional or a neophyte to the wonderful world of Project Management. So don’t be shy and feel free to leave comments, subscribe or contact me.

  1. Effective communication is key to success of any project. The big challenges like project vision, feature lists, and schedules always come down to lots of little challenges that are positively influenced by how easily good knowledge and information flow through a team. Project managers play a critical role in making that flow active and healthy.

    Although I haven’t read many of your entries yet, it looks like your writing very well reflects the philosophy you mentioned in this introductory piece itself.

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts on a topic very important but least-talked-about one!!!

    All the best!!
